Now, we’ve got Vampironica New Blood which builds upon the previous lore while still providing a solid jumping-on point for new readers.įrank Tieri has been playing in this world for a while and this time he’s joined by the always amazing Michael Moreci, which has us even more excited for this series. The crossover with Jugwolf from Jughead: The Hunger was also great. The first Veronica-is-a-vampire series was superb and really set the highwater mark for these Archie Horror titles. Vampironica is back and, against all odds, better than ever. Written By: Frank Tieri and Michael Moreci It took Dead Eyes a long time to get here, but we’re glad it’s back. The character work is unparalleled and you can see every emotion, every bit of pain, and every ounce of darkness. That final scene, which is essentially a long conversation, really shows off how freaking brilliant McCrea is. Duggan’s dialogue is on point and McCrea’s art is stunning, as usual. Every bit as gritty, violent, and peppered with dark humor as the two issues that came before, Dead Eyes also manages to majorly up the stakes. There’s a brutal fight at a hospital that results in very creative death and a final scene in an ambulance that’ll leave you begging for the next issue. The good news is this third issue was well worth the wait. We’ve waited a very, very long time for a new issue of Gerry Duggan and John McCrea’s crime drama Dead Eyes.
